1. 2. Good wear resistance, the gloss and accuracy of the surface of the plastic parts are directly related to the wear resistance of the surface of the mold cavity, especially when some plastics are added with glass fiber, inorganic fillers and some pigments, they flow together with the plastic melt in the runner and the mold cavity, and the friction on the surface of the cavity is very large, if the material is not wear-resistant, it will soon wear out, so that the quality of the plastic parts is damaged.


3. High corrosion resistanceMany resins and additives have a corrosive effect on the surface of the cavity, which makes the metal on the surface of the cavity dissolve and peel off, the surface condition deteriorates, and the quality of plastic parts deteriorates. Therefore, it is best to use corrosion-resistant steel, or chrome and cymbal nickel plating on the cavity surface.


4. Good dimensional stability: During injection molding, the temperature of the injection mold cavity should reach more than 300°C. For this purpose, it is best to use tool steels that have been properly tempered (heat-treated). Otherwise, it will cause a change in the microstructure of the material, resulting in a change in the size of the mold.


5. Less affected by heat treatmentIn order to improve hardness and wear resistance, heat treatment is generally carried out on the mold, but this treatment should make its size change very small. Therefore, it is better to use pre-hardened steel that can be machined.


6. Good polishing performance of plastic parts usually require good gloss and surface condition, so the roughness of the cavity surface is required to be very small, so that the cavity surface must be surface processed, such as polishing, grinding, etc. Therefore, the selected steel should not contain coarse impurities and pores.
